Core Drilling

Core Drilling is specifically designed to remove a cylindrical shape of material, like that of a hole saw, without the vibration. The material left inside the drill bit is referred to as The Core. Water is used during the operation to cool the bits and to ensure dust is suppressed. Precise holes can be cored from 12mm up to 500mm diameter, at various angles and depths through base materials such as brick, granite, marble, reinforced concrete, asphalt, tiles, etc.

Majority of core drilling applications are used for:

  • Air Conditioners (HVAC)

  • Plumbing Pipes

  • Palisade Fencing

  • Electrical cables and trays

  • Sprinkler systems

  • Gas pipes

  • Fireplace flue's & chimney's

  • Chemical Anchoring

  • Stud removal

  • Concrete Compression Testing

  • Drainage

  • Extractor fans

  • Sky Lights

  • Swimming Pools

  • Marble and Granite counter tops

  • Porcelain Tiles

  • Handrails

  • Telecom Cables

Indoor Fireplaces

Indoor fireplaces, wood or gas need to have a certain size flue / chimney installed depending on the style of fireplace chosen. A hole will be cored through your wall or ceiling to accommodate the flue diameter and insulation. This can be done at a 90° or 45° angle which will allow the smoke to draw efficiently. A fireplace with poor smoke draw can cause smoke to fill your home.

Stitch Drilling

Is an effective method for removing almost any thickness of concrete where other methods cannot be applied. Core holes are drilled in a series of overlapping holes, allowing for one large segment to be removed or to create an opening.

Scanning

Objects can be viewed in real time at various depths in brick work and concrete. After the area has been scanned and marked out you can drill, cut, or core with less risk of costly damage to the wiring, pipe work or rebar under the surface of the base material.

Rock Breaking
Rock Breaking

We use an expanding grout which comes in a powder form. It gradually expands and breaks rock, reinforced concrete, slabs, and concrete beams safely and quietly. All you do is drill, pour, and let it work its magic overnight. It is safe, easy, and cost effective compared to conventional rock and concrete breaking methods.

Removing Set Anchors
Removal set anchors.jpg

Anchors or bolts that have sheared, set incorrectly, or corroded can be removed by means of core drilling. This method is used when the position of the holes cannot be moved and will then be refitted with a new anchor.

Chemical Anchors
Chemical Anchors

Chemical anchoring is fast curing and suitable for uses in masonry materials, cracked and non-cracked concrete, rock and underwater applications. We use various injectable mortars due to the range of applications and load requirements needed. These fixings will commonly be used in balustrades, racking, staircases, support beams, steel ledgers, etc.

Light Demolition & Breaking
Light Demolition (3)_edited.jpg

Using pre-planned and controlled methods for demolishing of non-load bearing elements such as the removal of walls, flooring, fixtures, cabinets, drywall, or appliances. Residential and Commercial clients have circumstances that require light demolition or dismantling of a building or structure. Creating openings for windows and doors is also an option.

Dowel Drilling
Dowel Drilling

This is a series of holes drilled in the slab or beam into which dowel bars are inserted with chemical. The bars are then put in place when the concrete replacement slab is poured.

Percussion Drilling

The use of a rotary hammer drill to drill holes into brick and concrete. Sizes range from 5mm up to 40mm diameter. We mainly use this method to install mechanical and chemical anchors as well as doweling and rebar.

Concrete Compression Testing
core testing 1.jpg

Cores are drilled for obtaining cylindrical core specimens.

This method covers the procedures for obtaining, preparing, and testing cores drilled from concrete for length, compression testing or splitting tensile strength determinations, and to determine the length of a core drilled from a concrete structure. Samples of hardened concrete for use in the preparation of strength test specimens shall not be taken until the concrete has become hard enough to permit sample removal without disturbing the bond between the mortar and the coarse aggregate. In general, the concrete shall be 14 days old before the specimens are removed. Technical results will be presented on completion of the testing.

Dynamic Cone Penetration (DCP) testing is used to measure the strength of in-situ soil and the thickness and location of subsurface soil layer's .In DCP testing, the pushing force is applied by manually dropping a single or dual mass weight (called the hammer) from a fixed height onto the push cone unit.
